Breathing & respiration is the only system of our body that is both unconscious and within our control. How we breathe can be of immense value or extremely detrimental to our mental, emotional & physical health. It is within this understanding that I work with breath. At heart of the exploration is an opportunity to transform the way you experience yourself and the world around you, to create resilience, reduce stress, strengthen the lungs, improve your emotional awareness and mindfulness.
Your body carries the memory of all your experiences and is constantly communicating to the brain. This communication is often completely unconscious contributing to a feeling of confusion, stagnation, and being caught in your thoughts. You may react without thinking and feel unsure who you even are anymore. From this place it’s easy to feel lost, frustrated, full of emotion. Breath, embodiment and self-exploration gives us a powerful tool for discovering ourselves and improving our emotional, physical and mental health, feeling more at ease, less stress and experiencing a freedom and control that comes from within.
By getting in touch with your body you develop an awareness of sensations, this is called the felt-sense. Working with the felt-sense and the innate wisdom of the body, creates the opportunity for a vast amount of insight, information and choice. You can develop a deeper sense of trust, love, and improved ability for self-care. You can learn to be with the parts of you that have been hurt or carry grief or stress, you can embrace your “shadow side”, understand your unique needs and experience more joy, contentment, and possibility.
My name is Janel or you may know me as Tiffany. I’m a passion driven freedom lover who is always seeking and learning. My Myspace name (remember Myspace?) kind of sums me up. InspirationJunkie. I love travel, all things nature, music, dancing, high quality food, gardening, natural health and heart felt connections. I came from a very meaningful career in not-for-profit water quality that I loved for a long time until I knew it was time to explore a new frontier. I set off on a quest of discovery and that landed me, much to my surprise, right here, loving the world of breathing, science, meditation, mindfulness, creation, and discovery. Over the years I've sought knowledge from tradition schooling (B.S. Communication Disorders ), certifications in permaculture design, coaching from the Transformation Academy and pursed my initial certification for breathwork practitioner that led to a thirst for more knowledge. I am now a certified on-line facilitator through the Biodynamic Breath & Trauma Release Institute, completed training in the Physiology & Psychology of Breathing Science through the Professional School of Behavior Health Sciences and will be seeking certification in Breath Behavior Analysis. On my own I’m fascinated by neuroscience, somatic work, nervous system health, and brain/body connection. I want people to be empowered to live with presence, choice, and healthy communication, knowing how to navigate their emotional landscape, get to know their own bodies, their thoughts, and their needs. I want people to have the tools they need to shift themselves when necessary, and increase their health & resilience. I love honor each and everyone’s unique nature and innate wisdom.
